Michael Miller |
Founder | May 31, 1981 | IX | I first heard about Pilates in 1981 when I sought to teach a stretching and meditation class at my local gym. My focus was on the quality of what you do and the order you do it in. The gym owner said, “You mean Pilates.” The only book available at the time was Philip Friedman’s Gail Eisen’s book The Pilates Method of Physical and Mental Conditioning published in 1980. It’s been a love affair for me ever since. Because there was so little of Joe’s original work available at the time I set out to document as much of it as I could and make it available on my website. As more of Joe’s original work became available my website grew. Now, with more than 90% of Joe’s original work documented on my website, https://www.michaelmillerpilates.com, it is the largest, oldest, free database of Joe’s work on the web. Much of the credit goes to the talent I was lucky enough to work with. In the beginning, I was the one always asking for one more shot. Towards the end, my talent wouldn’t be satisfied and ask for one more shot. The quality of the imagery is unmatched. When Julian wrote to me about the role my website played in his Pilates journey I set up a place where he and others could sponsor the website to make sure it stayed available into the future. When Ale inquired if her students in a training class could access the material I assured her it was still free to access but she could help insure that it stayed that way and support the website by becoming a Sponsor. As the Pilates culture continues to evolve there are advantages to associating yourself, your students, your studio, and your training program with the de facto standard of Joe’s original work. Check out the site. See how much is out there. Evaluate the quality of the imagery. Once you appreciate what is there you will want to be a Sponsor, too! |

Julián González |
Director | January 1, 2024 | IV | My name is Julian Gonzalez, and as a therapist and a sports enthusiast, I was looking for something that would help me with my patients recovery, easier after injuries and to improve their physical performance, movement and shape, such as mine, too. That is how I came to Pilates several years ago and also finding a way to improve the connection mind and body, because I understood that we are more than a body. I found Michael Miller’s Pilates Website and I could finally understand the correct way of execution of all Pilates exercises and I consider that this website is a legacy for all Pilates enthusiasts and for all people that want to learn about the Pilates method. This website is priceless and deserves to be kept and preserved as a legacy. | |
